2017 All-Season Tire Selections

With the recent spell of warm-weather Spec R has seen a rise in the number of people inquiring or purchasing all-season tires for summer use. We like to consider all-season tire to be "3-season" tires, as they are most suited to use during spring, summer and fall conditions. In this post we will outline our top picks for all-season tires wit some notes on their applications.

General Altimax RT-43

Application: Value all-season for passenger cars, light SUV and van.

For drivers that need a long-wearing, reliable and comfortable tire to take care of their 3-season needs the RT-43 is really hard to beat. Good traction on dry surfaces, excellent hydroplaning resistance and surprisingly good performance in light snow make this our go-to recommendation when value is key.

Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus

Application: Premium passenger all-season tire for cars, SUV and van. Runflat available

The P7 is a very impressive tire, offering the some of the best grip on ice of any all-season tire we've used or sold. While we still advocate using winter tires, this is currently our top pick for a year-round commuter all-season tire.

Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza Plus

Application: Light truck and SUV

Available in sized from 15" to 22" the Dueler Alenza plus is is a great all-season tire for SUV, light trucks and selected vans. Good tread wear even on heavier SUV's and consistent performance put these at the top of our list.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3

Application: Sport-oriented all-season tire for fast sedans, CUV's and sports cars.

For those that need a tire that provides the responsiveness and ultimate grip close to that of a pure summer tire while offering better ride quality and cold weather traction the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ is your tire. Despite being an all-season, this tire can outperform quite a few summer only tires while offering confident handling in wet and mildly snowy conditions.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS06

Application: Sport-oriented all-season tire with winter capability for fast sedans, CUV's and sports cars.

Continental's high-performance all-season offering is a great, well-rounded tire that will leave summertime canyon carvers happy while offering the best mild-snow performance in its class. Over the years we have spec'd this tire and its predecessor (the "DWS") on many vehicles with positive reviews due to its ability to handle some snow.

One of the great things about all of the tires listed above is they are eligible for rebates from their respective manufacturers starting in March. Get in contact with us and let Spec R take the hassle out of tire selection!
